I have a laptop with 1 TB HDD, want to clone to new 500 GB SSD. I have a Wavlink Hard Drive Docking Station that I've used to quickly clone old small 3.5" drives to new larger drives. However, I seem to recall reading from folks that trying to clone from a larger drive to a smaller drive didn't work. I guess the manufacturers assumed you would never be wanting to move to a smaller drive? Well, I'm wanting to. I realized i was only using about 70GB out of the Terabyte of space, and speed was a lot more important to me. When I saw the HP 500 GB laptop SSD for $45.xx including tax at Target recently, I decided to get one.
Trouble is, I'm not sure what the best way is to clone the bigger drive over to the smaller SSD. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!
