Getting a second PC and don't want to buy a router since my main system is runnning most the time. So I am wanting to use Internet Connection Sharing. Both systems have XP Pro on them.

I just want to share a cable connection. Don't need files sharing or anything.

One last thing is XP Pro SP2 firewall fairly good? I know it can't be as good as a routers hardware firewall but is it decent? I do have a NF4 board hows Nvidia built in firewall?

you need two connections on the hosting computer. right click on the connection you wish to share, select properties, advanced tab, and check the box, "share this connection".
It is not worth the $20 you are going to save, however.

Well I am gonna give it a try. I might still get a router since I could probably find one for $10 used.

I'd recommend the router if only for security purposes. It'll also take a load off your main machine.

I STRONGLY recommend getting a router. ICS is messy and troubleshooting it can be a pain. You'll have a hard time getting help if you need it. You'll still need a second network adapter for that second computer. Home routers are so cheap and so easy......

There are New Routers for less than $15. A Router provides better, more stable connection than ICS.

This is not relevant to the issue at hand.

You need a combo of Router and software Firewall (Not Win XP filrewall)

Why? See here. Basic Protection for Broadband Internet Installation.

NF4 native Firewall is disastrous you should uninstall it.
