i need a way to have my client upload a file (~ 3 - 5 megs) easily and for me to download it as well, but not an FTP since the client is not so technologically advanced.

If your client isn't technologically advanced enough for FTP, it sounds like they should just put it on a CD and mail it to you (if they can handle that much technology ;) ).

I would still think email is the best choice.

Everyone of them knows how to e-mail and then you could download the files and do whatever you wanted with them.

Best option. This would be fairly easy to password protect/make user accounts and with the right web interface, they won't have any trouble.

Yup, password protection wouldn't be very hard to set up. Just play around a bit with htaccess and youd be all set.

Do you already have a website?

I wonder if there's a mail client that will allow you to set rules for the way attachments are handled. Obviously a potential danger but nonetheless. If you could set a rule to download to a specific location you could script a process to run on that directory or location that would move or manipulate the files as you chose. Easy for the user and after the setup VERY easy for you. If you set it up well enough it could also be very portable.

Agreed.

It would be something similiar to what objext.com offers.

The benefits are:
1) No FTP client required.
2) No cPanel File Manager required.

I'm sure that DeviousTrap can explain it from here.

Thats fine... set up several online upload areas.... or use a script that allows mutltiple logins.
