Just the name of the technique is fine ( I can google the instructions, obviously). All of the techniques I'm reading are from 2012 and I don't want to jump in because I'm not sure if they apply anymore (been quite a few updates since then).

Thanks!

If you have Windows, definitely the toolkit.

Btw, CWM recovery is fine for flashing but terrible for actually making backups.

There are three things:
Bootloader unlocking
Sim unlocking
Rooting

All serve different purposes

It's against the law to jailbreak a person in prison. :)

This whole "unlocking your phone is illegal" business is a bit confusing since there are two different kinds of phone unlocking. I assume when they say this, they mean carrier unlocking?

I assume unlocking the bootloader and rooting are still legal. And if not, well they'll have to catch me first coppers.

PS. And I really liked the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit. Makes it very easy.
