When i'm tired at my desk, I can lean forward, put my head on my arm on my desk and be out in no time flat

If instead I get up and go lie down in bed, it takes forever to fall asleep.

Anyone else experience this? Is it the position that makes the difference, or simply the act of getting up in the first place?

Same here.

Typically going to sleep in my regular bed means that the next thing I'm going to be aware of is my alarm clock, leading to another day at work. So I usually end up taking anywhere from 40-120 minutes to fall asleep.
Fun. Fun. Fun.

I'm like that too. I have trouble staying awake when I need to sleep and trouble to sleep when I should go to sleep. I'm not a morning person, I'm super tired from the time I get up and gradually get less tired throughout the day. By 10:00pm I get a burst of energy and will power that would allow me to conquer the world, yet I need to go to bed.

I always have trouble falling to sleep because I'm so much more alert at night. Then morning comes and it's hell forcing myself to get out of bed. Getting up in the morning is the hardest part of the work day.

nope, but I rarely have trouble falling asleep now after I went from no noise to leaving a fan on for consistent fan noise

my mind focuses on the noise instead of thinking about things

At the desk you are thinking of what you should be doing.
In bed you are thinking of what you could be doing.

For me it's the recliner. Turn off the TV, tilt the recliner back, and I'm out like a light. It's usually a deeper sleep than when in bed too. Strange.

Its the floor for me. My chair isn't quite comfy enough, and it takes about 20mins on the bed. I can pass out instantly laying on the floor though...
