anyone in ny, ohio, wvu, nj, ct, vt, ms, mn, or pa remember when the last earthquake was?

or even the south east?

oh yeah, parts of oklahoma is in zone 2A and the other parts are in zone 1 (seismic zone from the 1997 UBC).

I guess y'all worry more about windloading more so than earthquakes.

actually there have been some tremendous earthquakes on the east coast, just not in a long time. The soil/rock there is very loose and it amplifies earthquakes and makes them worse than the west coast, where we benefit from harder ground.

Actually we have them in Oklahoma quite often, they are just small ones, and nobody really notices.

We spend quite a bit more time worring about the freekin' tornados.

And your chances of getting killed by an idiot driver in Oklahoma are far more likely than getting offed by any natural disaster.

We had a 4.x in Ohio within the last few years. I really noticed it up on the second floor of our house. My parents were on the front porch, and I thought my dad was pounding on the door frame. So I yelled down at him to stop, and he's like "what are you talking about?" So I thought he was playing dumb and I yelled at him some more, and then realized he really hadn't been doing anything. That night on the news we heard about the earthquake and figured out what had happened that afternoon.
