From the little bit of footage shown, it looked like a rocker as opposed to a roller. Those buildings and streets inland were shaking pretty hard.

I felt a few quakes in Cali that were around 7.0, but they were all rollers and caused little property damage and no deaths.

I've forgotten some of the science (hydrology plays a role), but SoCal is overdue for "The Big One." Likewise for the Cascadia subduction zone off the coast of the PNW.

5 deaths in yesterday's plane collision in Tokyo, but it could have been MUCH WORSE.


Most of the Airbus's fuselage looks like it burned to chars.

Yea a video I saw, those houses were not rolling like in a wave they were shaking side to side. When we had the 6.9 north of Olympia, when I got outside the building you could see waves moving through the parking lot. I was amazed.
