i wonder how they differentiate between an earthquake and other vigorous activity that might be occurring on the bed

on second thought, that might be a feature

I don't get why it needs moving parts. Why not just a 4 poster bed that conceals a high strength steel frame?

Okay, I was going to post about how this might be handy in a high crime area as a defacto panic room...but your comment made my imagination go into overdrive.

Someone could retool this thing to be a trap. A guest lays down on the thing and then BAM! they're now a prisoner! :eek:
