It was rumbling around for a bit and then suddenly everything beneath me seemed to fall 2ft downward.

Hmm... I didn't feel anything in northern Alabama. Kind of a bummer in a way. I've never felt an earthquake before (that I know of).

Same. I'm not one to go out purposely looking for natural disasters, but I'm curious to see what a low-magnitude quake feels like. Not enough to be scary, but enough to be a life experience, I guess.

That was crazy! I grew up in California, lived there for 31 years. I was in the 89 Loma Prieta quake, but I hadn't felt a quake since I moved to NC. I was like WTF???? Little taste of home for me. LOL

I'm surprised the buildings are still standing. Are they even built to withstand 5.8 earthquakes?

In NYC. I was getting nauseous, so I looked out the window as I thought it was just from looking at the monitor, and everything got worse as I saw the walls moving.

Did not feel anything in IL. We had 2 minor ones on the same day in 2009 IIRC.

Later today will be the tsunami, and later this week the hurricane.

Have fun East-coasters!

Whoa. Felt it here in Grand Rapids, MI on the 5th floor of our building. That was such a strange feeling.

Darn, I want a quake.

BTW, all of the east coast nukes are undoubtedly melting down right now.

edit: Wow, surprised people felt it in GR and Toledo...
