Most of them bums, young children that aren't being watched properly, or old people I'm betting. Air conditioning FTW!

I am in no way, shape, or form jealous of California. At least I can own whatever firearm I want, and buy silencers, full auto, and whatever other NFA items I want, all without the earthquakes.

And if I want to mod my car (something that is mine that I paid for) I can.

Actually... I can honestly say that I'm in no way jealous of CA. Let's take a look at WHY:

1) I can own whatever firearm and firearm accessories that I want
2) I don't have to pay absurd prices for special low-emissions gas
3) I don't have to pay for the high cost of living
4) I don't have to breathe in crappy-ass polluted air
5) I don't have to worry about earthquakes tearing my house apart

Are you sure? I mentioned old people but they're probably #3. You hear about children being left in cars and frying all the time around here.

Yea, remember that one summer about 8 years ago where 200 old people died in Chicago? I have no idea why with air conditioning

Since when is Chicago known for high temperatures? Those people probably didn't have air conditioning at all. I'm talking about the southwest that has 110F weather for three months out of the year where every house has two air conditioning units and a swimming pool.

I would trade that for the demise of Senator Feinswine.

didn't feel anything here in Santa Cruz.

i have to laugh at people that are afraid of earthquakes. i mean, i'm glad you don't want to live in CA because we have enough people as it is, but i've lived through a big earthquake and it just wasn't that bad compared to the storms and tornados the rest of the nation has to deal with mulptile times every single year.

the biggest earthquake in recent history (like the last few hundred years) was in the great plains, and was WAY worse and affected a larger area than anything that has hit CA, including the 1906 quake.

i bet you're all afraid of "terrorists," too.

not to mention the country will loose some of its top universities and associated research CA is a great state overall with amazing geographical diversity and great education and pretty good job situation. Lot of people not from here seem to hate it bcoz of a certain % of tree hugging liberal hippies. Same can be said about somesouthern states which have a certain % of rednecks . Atleast our state with some weird rules/people is beautiful and has lots of fun things to do.

Uhh, good for you. Not like you need 22 full automatic weapons in your garage in CA
2) I don't have to pay absurd prices for special low-emissions gas

Uhh what? Look at national news and look at those news reports about gas. Gas prices in every metropolitan city is high.

Ever since Katrina, Silicon Valley gas prices and the national average closed the gap down to a mere dime. I paid $3.09 yesterday, and the national average is $2.99. If you can claim cheaper, good for you because then you're not only dissing CA, but pretty much the rest of the US.
3) I don't have to pay for the high cost of living

Cheap houses don't spell good. We make money off of real estate. Hundreds of thousands easily. What can you make in who-knows-what-state?

Plus, it shows people actualyl want to live here. No one wants to move to Arkansas. WHy else do other states have pathetic ads on TV trying to advertise adn tell people to move?

4) I don't have to breathe in crappy-ass polluted air

LA obviously. SKies aren't blue, but hey, you don't even get blue skies in the rest of the states. If you do it's rare. Look at how many sunny days we have. We see a lot more blue skies than you do. Moreover, air is pretty damn bad in any metropolitan city. You think NYC has great air? Hah.

5) I don't have to worry about earthquakes tearing my house apart

1994 Northridge, 1989 Loma Prieta? Hell, those were 2 different parts of the state. How many people died in Loma Prieta? Fewer than 100? What about Northridge? Not a huge amount either.

Houses don't get torn apart by earthquakes all that often. I lived through the 1989 earthquake, and I can tell yo umost people don't need torepair their houses.

Oh and as if hurricanes are any better. They hit every frekaing year. Some people should just get inflatable hosues since they have to run off every few months. THey hit mostly hte same regions, and please... Hurricanes cause a lot more damage in terms of $$$ than Earthquakes do, especially when they hit MULTIPLE TIMES a year.

If you hate CA so much.. how about this.

We secede, take Silicon Valley, and Hollywood. We have our beaches, our mountains with snow, blah blah, and Intel and AMD/ATI and NVidia will be ours, and you will have.. Via/Cyrix. Kthx.

In the southwest the only of the four "problems" you listed that applies is 120F heat, and dry heat is awesome.
