Earthlink > Time Warner Cable ?

I've switched and joined the dark side (and with good reason)
I couldn't take it anymore paying out of my wallet for cable.. specially to Time Warner (AOHELL.. :| )

I'm paying $17.50 basic cable (I have a "secret" box for every channel :evil: )
I also had the Road Runner service $60.00 per/Mo, just mail and 8 MB web space.
I've had the cable since November of 2001

In total:
$1,380 in cable access
$400 in cable tv (which isn't anything to gripe about)
------------------------
$1780 for cable, considering I haven't spent no where over $1000 for my PC products COMBINED.

So I signed up for Earthlink, back in the AOHELL hole I started in '97 I hope this ISP is good. Startup fee is $34.99 for 6 Months and $49.99 therafter.

I am still quite angry since I really don't need all that speed, but my place has HORRIBLE phonelines (28K top speed ) and Verizon isn't introducing DSL service anytime soon into Staten Island Their current Price for DSL is$34.99

Is Earthlink still going to use Time Warner service however? I don't get it how they can offer the service since in SI there is only Time Warner Cheaper anyhow

isn't earthlink part of time warner? or is that just the internet service? because my parents switched from road runner to earth link and they were both from time warner.

RR price is way too high. I have Earthlink for $44 per month, first 3 months half price. Happy with that.

I work for Earthlink so I will provide some info.

Time Warner does not own Earthlink, just partnered to provide cable service. We are just using their lines, and they do all the billing as well.

Thanks for the info I should be getting my kit in a week... ohh the Prices... I misposted them earlier, I was thinking.. hmm I don't think I was saving only $10 dollars

my earthlink connection sucks (provided by time warner)

i cant access roadrunner.com (filtered out by who knows what)

and my internet speed is quite sluggish. thers a lot of network activity on my router even though we're not using the internet. who knows whats going on.

It's what I have too. I love Earthlink and haven't had much a problem with them. I've had to cycle my cable modem twice in the past year, but that's about the only problems I've had. Speed is great, average above 1MB/sec on the broadbandreports.com page.

u have cable?

i posted here not too long ago seeing if anyone else with earthlink could acess roadrunner. they could, but they were using dsl.
