earthlink dns problems

I'm using a 3com LAN modem for my network to access the internet. Lately they have been sucking. Very badly. I'm getting a lot of dns errors and when I do start pulling up pages, the majority of them are slow. If I start AOL and run it over the tcp connection (aka not dialing directly into aol), I have no dns errors and things are quicker. so I'm thinking dns problems. (rumor has it they've been hacked badly) I pull up my profiles for earthlink. The one is using whatever dns servers that earthlink decided to give me. The other profile is using two dns servers that the customer service people gave me in the event of problems. Well, I decided to ping the servers to see what I'd get and I was completely unable to ping them. Not a good sign.
So what I'm looking for is two new dns servers. I remember stumbling on a list of dns servers somewhere but I just can't fund it tonight. Anybody have a link handy? Or two dns servers that I could try out for a while. The ones I use for work are internal and I have no access to them from the outside and everybody else is on @home and I've heard people complain about them. Thanks a bunch.
I'm sure this won't fix all the problems but I couldn't even pull up www.antec-inc.com tonight abd half my search engines are unavailable. I do have a tech support call in but no reply yet.

how about Netcom's DNS? they were part of Earthlink/MindSpring now..
199.182.120.203 and 199.182.120.202 but those were for the dial up networks though, I have no idea if they'll help you.

another one to try: 38.9.214.2 (PSI)
