Earthlink and VISTA

Just downloaded 5536 and can't get Earthlink working. Vista says there are issues with the software. Anybody running Earthlink DSL & Vista. My motherboard is a Asrock 939 Dual SATA2. It would not load the previous public beta but 5536 loaded no problem.
Thanks
Bill

If you use a router, then you won't need any Earthlink software installed at all. Just set up the router with the DSL account name & password.
You could then have internet access, whether booted from a live Linux CD, Vista, etc. without requiring any DSL software setup. A router provides
a hardware firewall as well.

Don't have a router so that's not an option. PPPoE seems ok. I get something like the following. This computer----unidentified network-----internet . There is a yellow triangle with a ! in it on the line between the computer and network. There is a red X on the line between the network and internet. Is anybody using Earthlink software successfully?
Thanks
Bill

Anyone on broadband really needs a router, for the firewall, even if there's only one computer connected. Basic 4-port wired routers are about $40 at
newegg.com, amazon.com or buy.com. Possibly even less on eBay. Or, more expensive at your local BestBuy or Office Depot. Linksys, Netgear or DLink are some good brands.

Linksys WRT54GL + DD-WRT=Greatest thing/router ever made 😛 (unless you want something really expensive)

I guess I'm spoiled with Cable Internet. No PPPoE. No username/password.
I also hate my ISP :| Can't wait for FiOS.
