My gf's bday is coming up and I want to give her some jewelry. I'm going to get her some diamond stud earrings and I am wondering how many carats I should get her. I don't want her to say that it's too small. Is .60ct earrings enough?

Wow, man, if you don't know what specifically your girl wants....
Don't worry about numbers, just get her something that you think she'll like. If she's any good for you she'll really appreciate them, no matter what.
 
One-up yourself and get her some silver earrings from Tiffany's. $95-115 will get you nice ones.
The box itself makes them worth 150x as much.
