It is indeed true. My wife does this and she gets a lot of Wal-Mart gift cards in the mail.

Gift cards are not money.

Most of these things are probably scams, just be careful and you can probably find one that's right.

in the past week I've received a sonicare toothbrush and a nokia 655i free of charge, also partcipated in an online focus group for $50.

I average requests for about 2-3 surveys per week.
Value of each survey is from $2-$75.

However, the surveys also have prescreening.
Sex, marital status, age, income, education, video game habits, etc all play into the pre-screening.

You usually only get once chance to pre-qual.

Over the past 4-5 years, I have totaled about $300-400 woth of hits that resulted in Amazon gift cards or paypal money.

It's for real. I just received $50 cash for doing a survey that was ran by a friend. But you do have to give name and phone number.

well, they do invade privacy somewhat and you may get more telemarketer calls (don't know for sure), and just because you complete/start survey doesn't mean you'll get any credit, unless you fit their profile..

There are many people who enter in sweepstakes/drawings/contests (and most actually win a lot of stuff) as a part time job.

I once met a guy who enters about 100 online contests everyday and he wins about $10,000 a year in stuff.

Ive done online /offline surveys for years. Made a few bucks. The best ever was a couple hundred for helping GM design the G6 and research hardtop convertibles back in 2002.

It was kind of fun, but I got tired of answering surveys, so Im on sabbatical.

Now I just respond to ATOT threads for free. 🙁

What? No free Ipod? 😉

Waste of time IMO.

From what I recall, the amount of surveys you have to fill out to get a decent payback is
ridiculous, plus I'm sure you can find MUCH better use(s) of your time.

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try, though you'll just be learning the hard way. =)

Well right now my G/F stays at home all day long while I go to school and work because she is almost due for the baby so I remember a while back that you can earn some money doing surveys though some of you all say it is not worth the time... she has all the time in the world right now ^_^

Yes you can make money completing surveys.

ViewPoint, BuzzAgent, etc. pay around $50/mo if you do a few surveys.

Yeah, that's probably the best survey site. Too bad it's so hard to get into.

Agreed. I'm a member and they send me about two surveys a week and usually they don't take very long. They only have an open enrollment period every so often, so that's your only chance to be a member.

I get $1 Buzzback surveys that I skip over, but once a week or so I'll get a $5 for a multiple choice runthrough. A $10 or $15 will pop up about once a month. Not much, but once that accumulates at the end of a couple months, you get to grab a huge steak somewhere nice. 🙂
