I have had SprintPCS for almost 3 years now. Reception at my house hasnt gotten any better. I started a new contract last November, so if I cancel before this November, I'll have to pay an early termination fee. Is there any way to avoid the early termination fee by making it clear to them that reception hasnt gotten any better? I know I shouldnt have gotten into a new contract last November, but that is done. I've gotten tired of the dropped class, poor reception, I held up to now, but dont want to any more.

Are you sure we cant change providers without changing numbers now? Because Sprint has already started charging for this.

My understanding is that sprint started charging for the development of implementing this new requirement. Really, really low IMHO.

Two ways.
First, tell them you're going to be moving to Montana. Don't ask me why but my friend's brother works for a Sprint PCS call center and they're told if someones moving to Montana, they can be let out of the contract w/o the fee.
Second, you can tell them you're going to be moving out of the country and ask them to provide you service. Of course they won't be able to and they'll let you out of the contract. I've personally used this method twice and it worked every time.

What, are they charging everyone for this? Like a tax added on top of the plan rate? Whether you port your number or not?

I'm on Verizon, and they're not charging me. They've told me that they won't charge me, or anyone, for this.

Won't they ask for proof? Utility bills, paycheck stub, etc.?

Read all of your mail very carefully. Sometimes when they provide rate changes or service changes they allow you to drop you plan penalty free. Of course they put this in very small print so that most ppl just toss the inserts away.

They never did. And I don't think they're allowed to anyways.

If you have SprintPCS, check your bill carefully. Its called a polling charge or something like that.

This is the way! Tell them you're moving to canada, just make sure they can't provide service before you tell them where you're moving to.
