Earl, cleanup on aisle 7

Looking for some cleaning info. I had a bottle of car wax that left a large puddle in the garage. Outside of waiting for erosion, what can I use to clean this nice chemical slick up?

You might try some simple green.

I was going to be snide and say club soda will take out that stain.

However, I do believe some Coke soda and kitty litter will absorb the stuff if it hasn't hardened too much.

Nope, still fresh and slick as hell.

Gasoline or mineral oil, lots of paper towels. Rinse, repeat.

I do have a decent quantity of acetone around, think that will take it up pretty good?

Yes, I clean up oil stains all the time by spraying brake cleaner on them and wiping with paper towel. Even the ones that look they're kind of soaked in come up completely. Any kind of solvent seems to work.

I'm sure the Acetone won't make it worse. Give it a try.

Acetone won't do much on a wax, it's too polar. But you can give it a try.

Edit: You may have some luck with a nail polish remover that's mostly ethyl acetate. Some are acetone, others ethyl acetate, some are mixes. But I think ethyl acetate wil help quite a bit.

When I went to get the acetone I found a jug of regular mineral spirits so I tried that. I also stopped by chiamart on the way home to get a mop and bucket I could toss when done. Little did I know that my 2 dollar bucket was more disposable than I thought when I busted open on like the third time I dipped the mop into it.

The spirits and towels followed by a warm wash mop (well not really warm water cause the damn bucket broke so I just rang the mop out on the driveway) took out the sheen and stickness. There is a faint white chemical residue left, but it's the garage floor so don't care that much. As for the "odorless" mineral spirits, I guess they mean odorless in it won't totally overcome you when you open the door to see if its dry so you can shut the door before being knocked out.
