Earbuds

First of all, I thought I'd point something out - the S.f 5 Pro is NOT considered an earbud - they're called IEMs (short for in-ear monitors). They actually go about halfway down your ear canal, which is great for blocking out ambient noise and delivering sound closer to your eardrum.

Quality-wise, between those two headphones? Definitely the Sennheisers. Earbuds/IEMs still can't hold much of a candle to similarly-priced full-size headphones.

The main benefit of IEMs in general is that they are EXCELLENT at blocking out outside noise - this means you can listen to your music undisturbed and you don't have to turn up your music as loud. They're also small, and deliver pretty nice sound quality for both these benefits.

BTW, on price... you can get a pair of used 595s for something like $150 (look around on Head-Fi FS/T, here's one). You can also get the 5Pros for around $180 new (look around in pricegrabber; earphonesolutions.com is also a great seller).

Becareful with the earbuds, I read somewhere it's easier to damage your hearing with those, even more so than with headphones.

Only if you're an idiot. It's actually easier to damage your hearing with open headphones, because with those you're letting in ambient sound, so you turn up the volume more to compensate. With IEMs you actually block out a great deal of ambient noise (maybe 80% or so, maybe more), so you don't have to turn up the music as loud to hear it.

Unless you're talking about EARBUDS, which is not what I'm talking about, and what I addressed in the second post.
