Earbuds (not IEM/Canalphones) recommendations

So I have a pair of EX51's, and they sound OK. Probably will move to something better in the IEM department in the future. They are great when on airplanes or not in the proximity of moving vehicles which may need to be avoided :)

However, I'm looking for a pair of earbuds. The isolation of IEM's is sometimes not good.

I had a pair of MX400's (lost) and some MX550's (broke a wire).

They are OK for the price, but I'm wondering if there are better earbuds out there.

Anyone have any recommendations? Most seem to be re-brands of the same drivers.

I've just ordered the Bose Triport IEs. They've gotten great reviews. I'll see if they live up to the hype. I had a pair of Sennheiser CX300s and I wasn't to impressed with them.

Aren't those all IEM?

There are a lot of great IE choices out there.

However, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any "buds" (which rest on your outer ear, minimal isolation) which are a higher sound quality than say, the Sennheiser MX400.

If you can still find them, Sony MDR EX888's were pretty highly rated back in the day (i'm talking 5-6 years ago). Not sure if they make them anymore or not.

EDIT: Saw some on Ebay for about $15 or so. Not bad seeing they were close to $100 back in the day.
