Earbud lads.. does this look legit? (triplefi)

These sell for 399 new, this guy says he has bulk packaging of them. He has pretty high feedback and is a top-rated seller but I'm weary of them being fake. They do not come with OEM packaging. I asked him if they were refurbed and he said no they were new.

I am looking to have some custom molds made for these.
I am getting tired of my shures shorting the fuck out in the cables, the idea behind this is to get custom molds made that have user-replaceable cables so if they short out (always around the ear bend) I can just replace them myself.

Any other buds I should consider in that price range? The custom molding is like ~80bucks and I'd like to keep the total price around ~300.

Last year around this time, amazon and then logitech themselves were offering them for $99.99. So any prices still over $200 can at least be given consideration to be legit. I can't say anything for an individual seller though.

Yeah I missed out on that.. ugh.

While I have your ears (lol), how does the one I linked in my OP compare to the Etymotic ER4P ? That company is actually local and I could have the custom molds done by them which would be saving me a step.

High frequency clarity wise, the ER4P are pretty unmatched.

Triple Fi 10 or Shure 535 would be a better option for low frequencies.

Well it looks like the custom molding for the ERP4 doesn't included audio 'jacks' to connect cables to, they're just replacement tips.. so that seems off the table.

They got bought by Logitech, so Logitech produces more effeciently (ie lower price). The Ultimate Ears name alone adds a HUGE price tag. So, yeah, do not be suprised to see Ultimate Ear buds cheap. Infact, There was some lower end Ultimate Ear buds that cost $130, but Logitech sold them under it's Logitech brand for $30 at numerous stores.

um, outside of that amazon sale last year, the triple.fi's are always sold from authorized retailers for $300+

to the OP maybe you could consider getting a used pair off head-fi or ebay for <200? since you're gonna get them remolded anyways.

Is there anything in that range that is comparable? Seems a bit overkill for me but if it's that much better I might consider it.

there's several westone models in the ~300 range i think. but I haven't had any experience with them so the best I can do is to recommend reading reviews.

I haven't read all the thread, but I would personally stay far away from headphones on ebay. There are a ton of fakes, and a lot of the sellers don't even know if they are or not. They've started to get really good at spoofing the packaging or looks. Sad thing is there are probably plenty of legitimate ones, but its such a crapshoot, and dealing with eBay/Paypal such a pain that I would opt for somewhere else.

OP, are these customs full remolds or are they just custom tips? I know quite a few places have gotten into doing remolds but I can't remember any being that cheap. Just wanted to be sure for you to check so that you don't assume its full remolds and get just tips as that would defeat what you're wanting to achieve.

Full remolds. There is a guy in Florida at Fisher Hearing that does remolds for 80 bucks. I am looking heavily at the Westone 2 right now. I really don't need 3 drivers...

i'm pretty sure that InEarz place is doing them for $80ish + shipping. There's a huge thread over in head-fi's portable forum about them.
