EAC takes forever to load

I have EAC and while it's a great program to use one it loads, it takes forever to load for some reason when there is a CD in the drive. The HD will show constant activity for about 30 seconds before the program will finally load. If I run the program with no CD in the drive it will load fine, but then as soon as I put one in the same thing will happen. Task manager shows it as not responding during this time, but if I wait it will eventually work fine. Does anyone know about this problem or have a fix? My cdrom drive is an asus s500 if it matters.

Same thing here, having an Asus E608 (8X DVD). Takes forever to load when a disc is already in the drive, and when there's none, it loads up fine but sometimes after inserting a disc it takes forever to recognize and read it.

Oh well right now im using cdex and it seems to be as good as EAC. I'll just stick with this if no one knows of a fix.

Just remember you must enable paranoia mode in CDEX for it to provide any kind of error-checking.

Are you using the latest version of EAC? What OS?

I have the latest version of EAC on winXP pro (although I had the same problem on win2k also).

Hmmm, did you set it up using the Wizard? Did it always do this or is it something new? Maybe it's trying to contact freecddb without luck?

It's always done this. I don't think its freedb, as I can access that just fine once the program starts.
