EAC problems

I'm switching to EAC and Lame, and got the combo to work earlier today. I've been trying it tonight, and everytime I start up EAC and do something with the program it goes to 100% CPU usage and stops responding. Did I do something wrong from earlier today and now? I've tried reinstalling EAC, but that didn't help. I also thought it might be the ASPI layer, so I reinstalled it, and it didn't help. What going on?

Open EAC Options (F9) and in the Extraction tab, set "Extraction and compression priority" to Normal and "Error recovery quality" to Medium.

Which aspi layer is installed? The one from ForceASPI? And under the Interface tab is it set to use the Installed external ASPI interface?

I'ved tried both ForceAspi and other versions. Currently aspichk comes up with all 4.60 versions, but at the bottom it says:

0xEB - ASPI is properly installed, but it is unable to initialize. It is uncertain what caused the failure (0x%02IX).

Other programs that use the ASPI work fine: Audiocatalyst, CDRWin, Nero, etc

EAC has a bug. You must start EAC first and *then* insert a CD into your CD drive. Then it works fine.

EAC always seems to stop responding when you start it after inserting a CD. Also when EAC is on, Windows explorer cannot seem to read the CD. EAC seems to lock up the drive somehow.
