EA sports fight night 2k4

good game, its a lot of fun. the punches are hard to throw due to how you have to use the joysticks, but its fun a lot of fun. good game for parties.

you have no taste, boxing games have rocked since Mike tysons box out, and fight night makes the puches strategic, throw upper cut, jabs, straights, just bought every thing but it really requires both hands.

Go play your little kiddie game on GameCube, with the cute cartoon people giving each other flowers. That's more your speed.

If I want to box I'll do it in a ring, not on a console.

Oh and gamecube sucks too

I think boxing games have sucked, with the exception of punch out, and now fight night. Knockout Kings or whatever EA's last attempt was just plain blew

How hard really is it to learn to use the punch/block mechanics in this game? It looks awesome and I would love to get it, but I am not a big fan of the analog sticks, i tend to use the directional pad whenever possible, so I am just wondering if I will like this game.

I suppose I should just rent it and find out.

Using the right analog stick can be frustrating, but thankfully the deigners, as with many other games, have also included other control configurations that assign the different punches to the buttons. So, the left and right jabs are assigned to the square and triangle, the hooks are assigned to the circle and x. And for uppercuts, you press both buttons for a left punch, ie. you would press both the square and the circle for a left uppercut, and the triangle and x for a right uppercut. Combine that with the ability to lean and bob and weave, special punches, the ability to fake a punch, and some actual strategy (you can't just go in and throw mad punches like crazy, you'll wear yourself out and end up like Klitschko, on yer back inthe 5th), and I think it's a pretty decent game. Those that bitch and moan that there is no clinching, I don't see that as a valid argument. Clinching in real boxing is nothing more than being lazy and laying on your opponent, and just slows everything down.

I switched the controls to punch with the buttons instead of the right d-pad, it helped a lot. The right d-pad was a good idea but it's too hard to throw combos.
