Article is so full of shit it's hilarious.

And unlike the fee-happy discount airlines that use the "everything is a la carte" model to keep base prices low, a new EA game will run you $60 for the most basic version available, making it easily the most expensive form of home entertainment.

$60 for the amount of hours SWTOR / Battlefield series / Mass Effect / Dragon Age etc. is "easily the most expensive form of home entertainment"? Really?

Many of EA's sports titles — especially its Madden NFL franchise — are bestsellers with annual releases and exclusivity deals with the corresponding leagues. This means that no one else can enter the market to compete with a lower-price NFL game, effectively allowing EA to set the price for new releases.

Pretty sure they just listed all of the "many" exclusive deals they have. Which equals 1. Which the NFL is just as guilty of.

But I guarantee EA wins because of the nerd ragers. I'm actually shocked Apple didn't make the finals. Has probably more haters than EA does.

Vote away!

EA is only "evil" to angry nerds. Rest of the world doesn't give a damn, but of "angry nerds" vs "rest of the world" guess which one votes on internet polls more.

Apple had to go against AT&T in the second round. It "won" against Google in the first though.
EA is hated because of it's anti-Midas tendencies.
And for removing it's games from Steam.
And for anything for teh PROFIT tactics...

Oh... and EA was the one to take down AT&T. It's more then just nerds.

I wouldn't hate EA so much if it just made yearly sports game and some other crap but why do they need to buy out all the other game companies and then turn their IP to crap too?

EA taking down AT&T actually shows the opposite, it IS about nerdrage. :p

Over half of Americans consider it a compliment to call them a geek. BoA may care more about the 1% with the big bucks, but EA cares much more about who buys their games.

They care about their stockholders. Angry nerds don't tend to be particularly affluent, because then they'd just be nerds.

BoA. As far as I know EA has NEVER cost me money. BOA has twice by raising interest rates for no reason of my doing. They just decided to do it. My fault for carrying debt with them, but could you have at least warned me 30 days out you were going to reach into my pocket more BoA?

Yea but AT&T took out Apple the round before, so its going both ways here. I worked for AT&T for 4 years and have nothing but hate and loathing for that company, but its mostly because of their shoddy internal practices, their piss-poor treatment of employees, their horrible management practices, and sheer amazement that they somehow continue to survive as a company despite all that. All in all most of their products and services work just as well as or better than their competitors.

Apple, on the other hand, is the worst kind of company. They never have, and probably never will, provide anything of real value to the world. Every product they have ever come out with is shiny, over-priced (and I mean WAY overpriced), well-advertised piece of shit. And they know thats exactly what they are doing, and everyone out there with half a brain cell knows it too, which is why there is such a large community of Apple haters. They succeed because they advertise well, they focus on the aesthetics of their products more than anyone else, but there are so many idiots out there that don't know the fucking difference that it works. Everything they have ever produced could have been done by someone else, just as well, without the ridiculous over-pricing. The only reason they lost to AT&T is because all the sheep out there that don't know any better.

EA lost 200 million dollars in the last quarter of 2011 and their stockholders are lining up behind the angry nerds.

Which is actually almost a $120M loss reduction year over year, though both figures are essentially drops in the bucket.

EA's eating short term losses in hopes of attaining long term gains, that's the business model behind SWTOR (whose development costs were by no means trivial) and the Q3 FY 2012 results would have reflected only a portion of it's sales as well as none of it's subscription income.

In addition, though I'm not familiar with the specifics, over the course of calendar year 2011 it appears that EA spent a great deal of money on various investments and acquisitions; again, short term losses for long term gains.

Further analyst recommendations on EA are split about 50/50 between buy and hold and the stock is generally considered to be undervalued.

In other words, all the noise made by angry nerds is not helping their agenda right now.

Why am I the only person of the opinion that Activision is far worse than EA. Blizzard is Activisions only saving grace. EA has actually released some great games the last few years. Activision has released call of duty again and again.
