Why are you still using 2k anyway?

That isn't the question. 2k and XP are SO similar I think the question for 2k users is "Why pay for XP when it adds no features you'd actually use when 2k works just as well?"

The one and only answer is: Cleartype. :)

That is not worth the extra $100 to upgrade from 2k.

Well there are other improvements, obviously. Better smp/multithreaded app performance, support for hyperthreading, smoother looking GUI (not that important), IE7 support, etc. But seriously the important thing to me is cleartype, might sound stupid but I really value that as one of the more prominent features for myself. Smoother fonts that you stare at for hours a day is a big deal, and after going briefly back to Win2k from XP I'm very glad I made the switch.

2k does feel a bit snappier, of course. If it had cleartype I'd probably consider patching and updating the crap out of it and using it instead of XP, but it's really not worth the hassle.

It is somewhat notable that Matrox does have Text Anti Ailising available via their desktop software :)
