Adding to the recent revelation that EA DICE's upcoming Mirror's Edge is part of a trilogy, EA Games president Frank Gibeau and Dead Space executive producer Glenn Schofield have disclosed that the company is planning a number of other sequels.

Both EA Montreal's co-op action game Army of Two (PS3, 360) and EA DICE's shooter Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3, 360) have "sequel ideas planned," Gibeau told Variety Meanwhile, Schofield revealed that EA Redwood Shore's sci-fi survival horror game Dead Space (PC, PS3, 360) already has a sequel in the works.

Dead Space debuted at retailers last week, with Army of Two and Battlefield: Bad Company arriving earlier this year. Since its release, Army of Two has been one of the year's best-selling Xbox 360 titles thus far.

Gibaeu also noted that EA's expansion into game-inspired films, books and television shows stems from the somewhat-recent return of EA CEO John Riccitiello, who, in Gibaeu's words, explained that "our fan base would love to experience or learn more about them in linear forms."

Actually, I like this. As long as EA is creating new original IPs that are quality, more power to them.

You guys really didn't like Army of Two? I played with a friend the other day and we didn't get that far into the game but I liked it overall. There were some things that bothered me about the game. Camera angles, some of the missions, etc. But overall I liked it, like I said I have yet to complete it so maybe its something I missing from not getting that far into the game.

Well, if sequels aren't enough...EA is bringing an Army of Two movie :Q

Electronic Arts has announced that it has signed a deal with Universal Pictures to produce a movie based on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title Army of Two.

The movie is set to by adapted by screenwriter Scott Z Burns, of The Bourne Ultimatum fame, and will go into production in 2009.

"Army of Two is a great project that has already attracted top name talent, and we're glad to be working with Electronic Arts on making this hit game into a film franchise," said Donna Langley, president of Production at Universal Pictures.

Scott Z Burns added, "I'm thrilled that EA and Universal see the potential to make a smart thriller that has real implications in the world we live in today."

Army of Two is now the second film project EA has set in motion, joining The Sims movie being worked on by 20th Century Fox.

"Our goal is to be in business with the highest level artists and producers as we adapt exciting games such as Army of Two into compelling film and television entertainment," said Patrick O'Brien, vice president of EA Entertainment.
