..well kinda

In advance of Electronic Arts? release of The Godfather II, a promotional package for the game has arrived leaving many reporters ready to kick ass and smoke some stogies. That?s right, this press pack has a real cigar, matches, a pair of dice, length of wire and brass knuckles. EA really went for the authentic feel with this box, giving promotions everything they need to ?off? someone.

The authentic feel doesn?t stop at the items in the box themselves. Some of the matches are missing, the inside of the box smells like burnt sulfur, there is a woman?s number written on the back of the matchbook, an immigration document and three folded pages of advice from ?M. Corleone?.

This is an amazing package that EA has put together, but there?s one problem.. Brass Knuckles are illegal in some states.

Read the rest (with pics) here: http://gamesareevil.com/2009/0...eady-breaking-the-law/

I have to admit, that's a pretty awesome promo pack. I want one!

Yeah, I heard it was already cracked and available on the net too, but nothing's going to stop that from happening nowadays. If it gets decent reviews and doesn't have activation / limited install DRM (as it's an EA game after all) i'll probably pick it up as well. From what i've heard it's pretty good. I also liked the first Godfather game, so i've been looking forward to this one for awhile now.

Here's a review from IGN: http://pc.ign.com/articles/970/970688p1.html

The image of you walking up to a deer and slugging it in the mouth with brass knuckles just set me into a laughing fit

Listen, if you can think of a more efficient way to take down a buck, I'm all ears.

Or belt buckles.

Isn't this a promotional package sent only to reviewers?

Yes

Kind of sounds like a bribe then. Special gifts to those who review their game.

I'd review the game and give it a 9/10 if they sent me that stuff.. I wouldn't even need to play it. lol So yeah, it's a total bribe.

And the worst part is... quite often some of these mega publishers kind of... stop... sending you such fancy review kits if all your site does is bash and bash every game they've let you review early.

That's why early reviews... I kind of only read the stuff and mostly ignore the scores - some sites, even the more legit sites, post scores that just don't match what they wrote, either too high of a score and quite often too low.

But there is the other problem: after major releases, a lot of reviews that trickle out months after the release, will sometimes go out of their way to go against the grain of the major reviews. Super hyped and high scores? Late reviews bash it. Super low scores at release? Wow super fanboy praise!

This, of course, isn't the standard, but is kind of a general thing, many don't follow that methodology though.

And the major magazines and websites tend to always get the major release press kits, regardless of their history of review scores.
