This is excellent, by stepping down they've created a hole that will inevitably be filled by something better.

Madden has sucked on the PC for ages, BUT it's the only game in town as EA has exclusive rights to all NFL games until 2012 now. A semi crappy game might be better than no game at all. Even if Sega Sports still made NFL 2k they've never made PC games. So basically PC football fans are stuck playing a coach simulator or something not so much a "game"

There will be Madden 2010 for the PC

Rush their game? It's the same game they released last year with different names and different numbers slapped on the backs of the jerseys.

I never understood why people bothered buying all the new versions. It seems so pointless.

some little things are different, and the big thing this year is the online leagues thing. .

It isn't much more than an online tournament. You can't set the schedule as the same as this years real NFL Schedule not to mention that if you have 32 players in the league.. you play 32 games

What's with the EA hate on this forum?

Can you really blame them?

Nobody buys sports games for the PC. It's not that they have no idea what gamers want.... the PC gamers aren't buying the sports games.

Add me to that list. I never bought a sports game for the PC. They just play right on the console while you can talk trash to your buddy right next to you.

Just wait until EA destroys a franchise you actually care about. Then you may understand the EA hate not just on this forum, but from gamers worldwide.

If EA never made another PC game and pulled out of the market alltogether and sold ALL their IP to someone else i would have a fucking party.

I actually like Madden (although I can never bring myself to buy the latest year's game, they usually last me a few seasons) and have played them on the PC only a few times, and personally, they're much better on console. Sports games have always been better on consoles to me, and it's no surprise they'd make this move.

i honestly dont know how anyone can play madden, period. sega's 2k series was far superior. the best madden was for snes/genesis days

Yeah, I don't like EA...but don't really blame them here. I mean, yeah they haven't updated any of their engines for their games in eons....but that doesn't stop people from running out and buying the console versions of the games. The PC versions don't usually sell that good though, so I completely understand where they're coming from.

Thought I saw somewhere that the EA deal with the NFL expired this year . . . not sure, maybe not.

Personally, I liked the Madden games, but I haven't bought a new one in years since basically the only thing they updated was the Rosters :disgust:

yup same AI blocking bugs, same comeback AI, same glitches & errors, same awful 'updated gaming modes' that have nothing to do with improving the actual game. Every year it's some fluff. The only add-on I liked is the one where you could be a specific position player.

Yep

July 29, 2008

During a financial call today the mega-publisher announced that it would be bringing Madden back off the bench next year (along with other shelved games) on PC. Peter Moore said EA Sports will be "Retooling these titles to take advantage of the online connectivity in a bigger and more meaningful way.

Correction: PC gamers dont buy games that suck balls.
Since EA Sports only makes ball-sucking games, they have no market.

See Also: HALO.

Here's my theory.
1) They couldn't make a port for the PC that gamers would actually buy. This is supported by the fact that all the previous PC versions of Madden were crap with only half ass game pad support.
2) They say gamers prefer to play sports games on consoles, but when you make crappy ports of course they're gamers are going to run to consoles. EA wants PC gaming to fail because PC gamer want innovative and new titles, EA would rather make money off cookie cutter titles they can hawk on consoles while creating a monopoly on genres so buyers will have no other choice but buy their games.

Is it a wonder why EA has such a bad reputation?

how come they just couldn't port the XBOX 360 version?

They've tried it. It's generally been so shitty that even the "mainstream" review sites find it hard to not give it a score worthy of the doggie poo it is.

I think the last sports game I played on PC was John Elways Quarterback. I for one think that the market for sports games has more affinity to Consoles atleast when you consider major sports.

Soccer games like FIFA and the Pro Evo series are huge on the PC, at least in foreign markets....I think larger than on the console. But ya, it's a bit of shame that they axed it for PC. I can't afford a console, but I can justify putting some money into my pc since I do more than just game on it...I certainly wouldn't waste my money though on rehashed garbage (eg madden 08).

So since they also did not update the game engine on the NHL 05,06,07, and 08, will they AXE NHL09 AS WELL????

the reason they are killing it is because no one bought those PC versions, and the reason for that is because they were NOT WORTH BUYING!!!!!

QFT

I specifically didn't buy last years Madden because of their laziness in updating the graphics engine. Would this be the reason they didn't sell? I would say so, and so would the other 100 or so signatures I received for the boycott of that game.

boycott killed madden 09 for sure
