Have any Core 2 Duo E8500 45nm Wolfdale processors with the latest E0 stepping been bought by any of you guys yet ????
If you have one where did you buy it & when !!!

I was going to build a new Q9550 system since the price dropped but after studying these benchmarks http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl.../core2duo-e8600_5.html & knowing the E8500 OC's easier & better than the Quads plus they run cooler.. [should go to 4 ghz on auto volts & still run cool/n/fast]
Saving a $140 between E8500 & Q9550 & most of our software runs best on dual cores..
Now if i was into video encoding, it's a Q9550 with no 2nd thoughts !!

Parts to be bought :
Asus P5Q-E P45 motherboard
Mushkin PC 8500 4 gigs of ram
E8500 [or Q9550] since no affordable Quad EO steppings i've decided to build E8600

These parts are allready delivered:
MSI R4850 Video Card
Corsair 620HX power supply
ZeroTherm Zen 120 CPU cooler
Antec 900 Case
Wd 500GB hard drive
LG DVD writer
3.5 floppy & round cable

Any thoughts or experience appreciated !!
Thanks; Ol'Pal Gary

Waiting for E8600 to drop! I've got an E8400 in my drawer (like it there) and a Celeron E1200 in my PC that I'm typing this on! I like it like that.

E5200 with 12.5X multi FTWWWWW!

E8400 i believe is R0 and not E0.

haha those in my sig aren't my OC's they are done by legends: duck, coolaler, & andre yang.

voltages are 1.8vcore to 2.1vcore, and cooled by liquid nitrogen.

Mark posts regularly & he is an admin, hes the guy with 10 quads in his sig (which unlike me, are actually his 10 pc's hehehhe).

I think the Q9650 does....
Q9400 don't know ??
E8400 & E8500 EO's are supposed to be in the supply chain & that's what iv'e been trying to find out about !!!

Any inside scoop appreciated !! Ol'Pal Gary :D

No news on what chips have what. I do need 1.375 vcore to do 4.07, and I am not sure how much more it will go, but I am happy witht hat, and full load temps are 53c, so I leave well enough alone.

Too busy with work and mod duties to get the last 200-400 mhz.... ( I have posted at 4350)

Mark that looks like a really good clock, are you going to keep it there 24/7 ??

I did find in my research that the Q9400 has the RO stepping which is up from Q9300 MO stepping...
The Q9450 sounds like EOL
The Q9550 @ some point will be EO stepping as will be future E8500..
Looks like since i don't want to wait any longer i'll go with the E8600 with EO stepping.
Since i don't do video encoding, this is a pretty good move for me !!
