im running my 8500 at 4.35GHz (3.16stock) at 1.33V.

ambient temp is 28'C, idle temp is 54'C, load is ard 65'C. up to 69 on prime.

most importantly im running TRUE120 with >70cfm through it. unlapped.

are my temps too high?

You can't trust any temperature reading from a penryn.

if you can reach your hand into your case, and possibly feel the base of your TRUE or the heatpipes coming off it...if they don't feel warm/hot to the touch, you most definitely are not actually running 69C load.

You can't trust coretemp, realtemp, everest, speedfan, even your BIOS temp readings. Unless your motherboard has it's own temp sensor under the processor.

If it doesn't feel warm at all, then you should be safe. If you want to confirm, then try this: turn off or unplug the fan on your TRUE, and feel it after a few minutes at idle/load. I think you should be completely safe doing this, as there is no way you're going to damage your processor if the heatsink doesn't even feel warm.

I have an e8400 running at 3.6GHz and every program I use to read temps tells me that I'm at 65-70C load, but my tower cooler feels barely above ambient. If I turn the fan off, it goes up to 80C, and it's just beginning to feel a little warm.

I use real temp and believe it more than anything else. Your idle temps look a bit high compared to my 8400 but thats just my chip. Mid 60's under load is not a problem. I just thought your true should be a bit better at 1.33v? You should be fine though,,,,,,,

dfi x48 t2r. i expect all my temps to be higher than the average you see online. cos i live in the tropics. ambient is already 28C.

i just need to know if it is too high. cos i just upgraded from a 2.8C Northwood last week (yes i know its old 😛) and idle temps were mid 40s @3.3GHz..
