I've got an E8500 processor, and my mobo is gone capoots. The mobo was always kinda haywire since the day I got it. Couldn't return it, couldn't fix it.

So now I'm looking to buy a new mobo. Any1 have any suggestions? I see mobos with the intel x38 or the x48 chipset, and was wondering if either of those would be more/less compatible.

I'm use'n ddr3 ram as well, so the mobo needs to be compatible with, as well as have a pci-e slot or two. Thoughts, suggestions? All comments appreciated.

haha. X48 for ddr3. also x38 & x48 can run two pci-e 16x 2.0 lanes. p35, p45 and all others below that cannot.

Yea i know my parts are miss matched, but its what I'm stuck with at the moment :p But aside from pci-e... well screw it, what would be the best chipset for my parts? I'm not limiting myself to 38/48, w/e works with it and utilizes as much as possible for a decent price is what I'm interested in.

Edit:

I just looked it up and the x48 supports my ddr3 and the mhz... so why the lols? What am I missing/not understanding?

Ok, so I'm not completely retarded. Thats a plus, lol. So basically the x48 seems to be the best.

And what is the difference between the x38/48, both support, or should support, my cpu, the only difference is the x48's ability to support higher fsb for the cpu/ram?

The Asus P5N-D (nForce 750i SLI) is a great board at a low price. I've got my E8400 with the crap C0 stepping and I've managed 3.825GHz at 1.425v. You're gonna want to pair a coupla GeForce GTX 260 Core 216s for some SLI silliness!

EDIT: Ooops! Sorry. You're using DDR3. Please disregard my unhelpful post.
