e8400 w.4GB (2x2gb) RAM MOBO help

Hello computer experts!

I am upgrading a new computer, and I need help getting the right mobo/RAM combo.

I have an e8400 CPU, and I want to run it with 4GB of RAM[DDR2-1066] (All other parts will come from existing computer.) I would like to overclock (on air.)

I have been thinking of a P35 board since I will not be using SLI or Crossfire.

The problem is - I can't find anyone who seems to have a good combination of mobo and 4GB RAM that works.

I had thought I would go with the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 board, but I am scared off because of the stories re: continuous reboots http://www.tomshardware.com/fo...therboards-boot-cycles

Other boards seem to be very persnickety about the RAM in 2x2GB 1066 kits.

Anyone have any confirmed winners for this combo?

Thanks.

ATI X1900XT
TUNIQ Tower
Seasonic S12 500W PSU
Auzentech X-Mystique 7.1
WD SATA HDD

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (32 bit)

I ran an Abit Ip35-E with 4 sticks of Gskill ddr2 1000 ram for a total of 8gb with no issues, along with a q6600@3.4ghz and then an e8400 @ 4ghz with no issues.
(yes, thats four 2gb sticks that filled all four slots)
LINK to Gskill ram i used.

I recently went sli, so i moved my 8gb to a 780i Asus P5N-T deluxe and im having no issues there either.

I can't speak from experience but I also have extensively researched a board for the e8400. If you aren't going SLI, the Abit IP35 Pro is a more feature-rich (and therefore more expensive) board if you want to get more goodies. It runs great with G.Skill RAM and does work. So bascially seconding MTDEW (since they are such similar boards and exact same RAM) from my research

I'm running the Abit IP35-E also, with 4 sticks of el-cheapo HP Promo ram ($8 for 4 Gigs, baby!), it's 667 ram I'm running at 800 with no special settings (volt bumps, etc.)

Thanks for your input, but none of these responses specifically address this mobo with 4GB RAM and the e8400 CPU. How does the IP35 Pro work with the e8400 and 4GB RAM?

I have not heard of a motherboard from a reputable company that couldn't handle 2x2gb kits.

Now kits that populate 4 slots is an entirely different animal.

I have a Gigabyte DS3L w/ 4 gigs (2X2) and an X3350 (which is harder to find support for than your e8400.) Works great.
