i didn't really think anything of it but when i got my E8400 and ip35 pro and booted it up, CPU-z read my temps at .965v for the vCore. that doesn't sound right to me so i started messing with the voltages and overclocking my processor and it seems as though the ABIT ip35 pro has a .20v offset built in or something. for example i have my vcore voltage set to 1.33 in my bios. well in cpuz it says my vcore is at 1.13 (vdroop is about .01 or .02 at max). is that supposed to be like that or is it a BIOS fault? all the other temps are right on the money except for the vcore with the .20v offset.

now with these voltages and me getting 3.7ghz with 1.13v, i don't see how some people are cranking 1.45 actual volts into these chips and not melting the chip. I say this because at about 1.17v my cpu reaches anywhere from 68~71* while running prime95. Also kinda don't know how some people need this much voltage (previous 1.45v) to get a 4ghz overclock. like if i had a better cooling solution i could take this baby up to say 4.4 at probably around 1.25 actual volts. Mind you on the box it says the voltage is 1.225v MAX.

ALSO- in coretemp 96.1 it says my VID is .965v??

mine is off by .10 , i have mine from the bios at 1.375V CPU Voltage, and CPUZ and all other programs read the core voltage in windows as 1.26V, there is an issue with the Asus boards on this and I've read abuot this all over, i did however update my bios to the latest version but still the vocre is off by .10, now the only question is, is the windows reading right or the bios reading? Looking at reviews all over for my E8400 i noticed that most reviews had their voltages pushed up to the 1.4v and above mark to get to 4 ghz and above, and my temperatures are at 60C core on load and 40-45 degreesC at idle, the CPU temperature is however lower at 22C. So my guess is that the BIOS is reading them right @1.375, but not reporting it properly (i.e 1.26v) faulty sensor? or faulty sensor from e8400?

But yea just thought id share my thoughs.

interesting theory indeed. anyone else like to shed some light on this subject?
