My Hardward consists of ...

Antec Sonata III case (added an extra 120mm intake fan) 500w
Abit IP35 PRO mother board
E8400 C2D
Patriot DDR2-800 2x2gig
Tuniq Tower 120

I am looking at Everest and its saying my CPU is 67c idle but my CPU cores are at 29c/31c... which of these numbers is it i want to take most note of.

I used Artic Silver 5 and used the directions of putting a thin line straight down the middle of the heat spreader was just wondering if that is truely adiquate(sp?)
 
Trust the cores, the 8x00 series are known for mis-readings on the cpu sensor. There are a few threads about it in CPU's and Overclocking.
