E8400 Temperature Help

i just bought a e8400 and the temps are idoling at 31Cpu and 44 for the cores...it is not oveclocked and i do have a basic watercooling system...i used as5 and put a line like the pdf said...is it a read error or did i do something wrong
 
You think those are bad temps? What are you using to get the temps? BIOS, Core Temp, etc?
There are quite a few people having problems getting a good temp report for these chips for some reason.
 
i have everest ultimate 4.20.1257 and hwmonitor...and i switched from a e6600 oced to 3.4 which would not hit these temps under full load

Somehow I doubt that your previous temp readings were accurate. A 3.4ghz OC not getting above 44c? That must be a really exceptional water cooling kit.

E8400 temp problems are extremely common. Update your bios but don't worry about your temps. An idle temp of 44c is hardly "going through the roof."
