E8400 or q9300

This seems like a crazy deal NOT to jump on

ASUS P5Q Pro
$134 @ $119

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB DDR2 1066
$133 @ $ 119

- $20 instant rebate
- $30 combo

208.99

- $55 MIR

$153.99

At that price I?m think of going to the q9300($249.99) over the e8400 ($169.99) , I think a 9300 @ ~3.5 ghz should be close enough in games as a 8400 @ 4.0ghz, but leave me with the extra cores for encoding(ffmpeg home movie ripping type stuff, currently being done by a dual socket opteron 275 workstation) and multi-tasking.

Q6600 is tempting at $184, but I really want o get to 3.4+ ghz as I don?t upgrade often and will probably wait till i7 successor to upgrade again.

$324 for e8400 rebuild

$404 for q9300 rebuild

GPU (8800gt 512) will be bottleneck either way till I upgrade that sometime next year.

Since I have a quad Linux box now for workstation task, and this is the gamer upgrade, I?m leaning toward the E8400, $80 premium doesn?t seem worth it for a quad. an e8400 at 4ghz should have plenty of cycles for multi-tasking(aim, browsers, vent, slingbox, etc...) with 4g of ram.

Making it REALLY hard to wait for deneb/i7 refresh..
