This is my first ever ocing attempt,so I need some sugestions like do's and do nots.
My hardware......
Asus P5N-D latest .402 bios with stock heatsink and 60mm fan on NB chipset
CPU e8400 @ 3.0ghz
Ram 4 gigs OCZ DDR2 800 Reaper HPC 4.4.3.15 (have 4 sticks of 2gigs each,only 2 would fit)
PSU PC Power and Cooling Turbo Cool 860 watt
DVDRWs Lite-On and Pioneer (ide version)
Case NZXT Zero (all 5 120mm fans replaced by Thermaltek smart fans,being manually controlled,2 of the 120mm fans on side door were removed to make room for CPU cooler) The case is compleatley covered in Dynamat extreme on the inside,all pannels everywhere.
CPU Cooler ASTEK LCLC 120mm version liquid cooling sealed system.
Fan Controller Zalman ZM-MFC2
Harrdrivers OS = 2 WD Raptor 74g in raid 0 array (SATA)
Storage harrdrive WD 1TB 5400-7200 rpm (SATA)
Video card BFG 1gig 9800 GX2 stock (just barley fit in this full tower,it's 10.6 inches long)(two WILL fit)
Sound card Asus Xoner DX2 PCI
monitor = Hanns-G 28 inch LCD full HDMI at 1920x1200 32bit on everything
OS = Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 fully updated
Current setup numbers........
CPU = 3.6ghz @ 1.21875 vcore (tried less,wasn't stable)
FSB = 1600 mhz
NB chipset at 1.32 volts (1.30 works if I don't game,so 1.32 it is)
Dram at 2.090 volts (2x 2 gig dims) running at 800mhz with 4.4.4.15 2T timings.
All other voltages is set to auto.
In bios under jumper free settings is where I got these numbers at,becouse under hardware monitor,the numbers shown are a bit less than there set points.Example: in Hware monitor cpu vcore is 1.16 volts,but is set to 1.21875 volts.
I am using Riva Tuner at startup to crank up the fan on the BFG to 70%
68-72f ambient temps in 10x12 room.With idle temps at desktop at CPU-41-45c and chipset at 40-42c after a couple hours.Under load of 2 hours running Winamp,Asus PC Probe II and Hellgate London online in DX10 at 1920x1200 all settings maxed except for shader quality set to very high instead of extreme,my temps are CPU=51-54c and chipset =49-52c taken from bios at imeadiate exit of game.With PC Probe II,it's usually a couple degrees less while still in Windows.
Since I have two 120mm fans on the side panel blowing directly down on the chipset,I am considering removing the fan on the chipset becouse it seems to be fighting those 120's head to head...and loosing.
The Zalman controller monitors the ACpower draw of the entire system,at idle I am at app.235 watts and under the Hellgate load,I am at 330-335 watts.Which is less than half the PSU capability,so ya,I got the power for that second BFG 9800 GX2.Now I just need the funds to buy it!!
Anyways,how do these number sound? Also,do you think I have the headroom to hit the 4.0ghz mark? My fans are set at about 60% during gaming.At max there rated at 93.7cfm.
Any sugestions would be very helpfull as the chipset temps is the main one I am worried about. According to Intells's site,the CPU has a max thermal heat at 72c before meltdown could occure.
But I have no idea on the chipset temps.
One last note: I have 3D Mark 06 pro,but it willnot install under Vista 64 bit for some reason,any sugestions on a good Vista 64bit benchmark program?
