I'm trying to O.C. my CPU to at least 3.6ghz. All my friends know little to nothing about my board cpu and DDR3 Ram. Was wondering if i could get some tips and some advice on o.c. with my current parts. Heres some pertinent info Mobo: Maximus Extreme CPU: e8400 RAM : 4x1gb DDR3 OCZ Gold 9-9-9. Any help with voltages, DRAM settings, FBS speeds and any other help with manual cmos/bios settings. Thanks guys.

We need to know which chipset your motherboard is (eg. nForce 780/790i, intel X45 etc.). Could you post a link to some more info about your board, such as where you bought it from, or the manufacturers website.

Its an x38 chipset. From tigerdirect.com. ASUSTeK.com i overlcoked my cpu to 3.6. my concern is i had to downclock my RAM To 1280 mhz. I am currently trying to figure out how to get my pc running on 1334mhz RAM Frequency. Any suggestions?

Raise your RAM's voltage a bit? At least make sure it's at the RAM's stated voltage rating. Also, it's possible that running 4 DIMMs is the problem. Many platforms can't run as fast with 4 DIMMs of whatever density. Although on your board I would find that hard to believe. Try it with 2 DIMMs first, get it to where you want it, and then experiment with 4. You should be easily capable of 3.8-4.0 GHz on that rig. Also. bump up the northbridge voltage. Finally, check some of the other forums around here. Be patient, it can take weeks to get an OC solid and stable to where you can put the case back on and call it a day. (Assuming you have a day job, that is).

You may not be able to hit it exactly unless you are running at a specific speed. I would not sweat it -- The difference, if any, would not be noticable.
