Well i ordered these parts on saturday and they are coming in on friday. just wanted to wonder what i can expect to get out of my new system. I am going to be using the stock intel cooler for the time being because of funds (or if you think a coolermaster Hyper tx2 will be better) so the intense overclocking wont begun until i get my new HS. But say i were to OC with the stock intel cooler, what would i expect? also is there anything i should do (ie. mods) to the mobo such as the vdroop mod? or should i just leave that alone? Also what is the max overclock these chips have been getting with the mentioned mobo? thanks for all your help guys. looking forward to my new build.

Until you get a real cooler, basically your OCing will be limited to what you can get with stock vcore.

I'm sure you could do 3.5 GHz.

But once you add a bit of voltage, it'll get very hot in hurry, especially since they come with the tiniest useless heatsinks.

And yes, if you have a Hyper TX2 (if i understand you correctly), that'll be much better than the stock cooler.

My E8400, so far, has been able to reach 3.501Ghz (389x9) on stock voltage, and it could be more but I haven't tried for higher than 3.5Ghz, but the full load temperature has gone up to 56ºC. I will receive my Thermalright SI-120 and Scythe S-Flex SFF21E 120mm fan this Friday, then I'll aim for a minimum of 3.6Ghz for 24/7 operation, and then perhaps up to 4.0Ghz for benchmarking purposes. At the moment though I've let it run at stock voltages and stock frequencies until I get my new cooler. But I am quite satisfied by what it can do at stock voltages.

Yes at the moment, but as I mentioned, this Friday that's going to change.

wow didnt see that..... would you guys recommend a nirvana from zerotherm? i was reading some reviews and some say it can compete with the zalman and TRU? i doubt that but just wanted to verify.
