E8400, how can it be 3ghz with a 8x multiplier?

I was told that the E8400 has an 8x multiplier. but it is also 3.0ghz.
8 x 400 = 3200
7.5 x 400 = 3000

So how does it all work out?

The e8400 has a 333 MHz core clock speed (1333 rated FSB) and a 9.0 multi.

They probably confused it with the Q9450 which will have an 8x multi. 8x333=2.66ghz

333 MHz is the stock clock frequency for the e8400 which, quad-pumped, gives the 1333 MHz rated fsb. 9 is the highest multiplier for that core (AFAIK). That's the standard. 375 MHz is, therefore, an overclock setting, whereas a multiplier of 8 is *cough* an underclock *spit*

Then again, I could just be making this all up...
