I almost pulled the trigger on one last nite, but my E6600 is running at 3.42ghz.
Even if I did OC the E7200 to 4ghz or better i don't think the difference would be that significant.

You're the best, aigomorla. BTW, who put my credit card next to my keyboard? It wasn't there a few minutes ago. Must also resist...damn this addiction. How are these OCing, BTW?

Well, it's a good thing I'm not addicted to meth or heroine, since I don't seem to be very good at resisting temptation. But seriously, who could resist an E7200 + 4GB of PC8000 for $225, including shipping? Mine should be arriving sometime next week, but I won't know how well it overclocks until I get a motherboard for it.

I already asked this question in the Hot Deals forum but haven't received a response yet, but how will this cpu oc with the ram in my sig?

Because of the 1066 fsb what will I have to run my ram at to achieve a maximum oc of 3.8 - 3.9Ghz with the 9.5x multiplier?

1066 = 266fsb remember this is quad pumped.
is where the cpu is at.

Taking that number with a 9.5 multi you would need 400fsb for your overclock. That means your ram wont limit you because 400fsb = DDR2 800 on 1:1 divider.

Would this chip run on an Nforce 570 based chipset like the one in my sig? ECS doesnt update there site and I tried numerous times asking them but with no reply. Does it work on the Asus Nforce 570 based motherboard?

Damn this is tempting me right now. I just need a setup to get me through 6-8 months.

Edit: One thing, I cant remember on the C2D's. If it is rated for 1066Mhz can you pair it with 800Mhz Ram if you plan to run it at stock? I cant remember if they have a decoupled FSB and Ram speed.

Yeah, with a 1066MHz FSB you only need DDR2-533 for a 1:1 ratio. DDR2-800 is good for 1600FSB.

Does this mean that DDR2 1150 or 1200 will be absolutely useless for E7200 ?

It won't be 'absolutely useless', as you can run the RAM faster than the FSB. Generally you'll only get a small performance gain (a few % perhaps) however certain tasks like RAR decompression can gain up to 15% from faster RAM, but its the exception rather than the norm.

whats the mobo in ur current pc? If the 4gb 8000 & the E7200 are better than your current mem + cpu, then why not do the old switch-er-roo?

The G.Skill PQ PC8000 will go into my Q6600/P35C-DS3R/8800GT system, and I'll be putting my PQ PC6400 (which will do almost DDR1000 @ 2.0v) into the E7200 system, since it has a 9.5x multi. So, I'll still need a motherboard and eventually, another video card, since my old X1900XT isn't horrible, but isn't fast enough to keep up with C2D's, especially when they're overclocked.
