I was just looking for opinions on this chips(e6750) performance for gaming. My new set up(on the way):

-a GIGABYTE p35-ds3l - Mobo
-a C2D e6750 - cpu
-a Thermaltake Big typhoon -hsf
-4gb ocz reaper edition ram 1066Mhz ddr2
------(all for 205 shipped, steal eh? )
a pp&c 500w silencer psu
and a 9600gt 512mb

I'm just wondering how it performs in games like CSS, L4D, WoW, Fallout3, FC2, Mirrors edge, etc... compared to my current set up of

ecs m-atx (to lazy to look up part number)
805d cpu (stock HSF)
1gb gskill
same psu and 9600gt.

any opinions/comments are welcome. I haven't really gamed with a system like the first one and i'm just curious about its performance. I'm really just looking to talk about the processor/mobo's performance in gaming.

Going from your old 805 processor to a new 2.66GHz Core2Duo with 4GB of ram? HUGE difference.

It'll be night and day and your 9600GT will finally get to stretch it's legs and perform like it should.

sweet! but how is the 6750 in over all gaming, compared to other dual core chips (I'm not interested in going quad core for a long time, especially since i'm in college and need to get SOME work done haha)

It's a Core 2 with a decent clock.....so it's a good chip. If you're asking how it compares to the newer 8400 then a little slower obviously, and it's quite a bit faster than a X2 (clock for clock).

Solid choice all around.

It's fine for gaming. Better than anything AMD has and about middle of the pack for the higher end Intel duals.

The E6750 has proven to me to be more than a worthy chip for gaming. I was able to push the chip @ 3.8GHz without a fuzz. I've been able to play any of today's games without any problems, and . . . it's as good as a free overclock @ 3.2Ghz @ 0.1V below stock volts! At least it was for me =D
