E6750 with Zalman CNPS7700 vs. Q6600 with stock fan?

I'm in the processing of getting a new computer system.

The final decision I have to make it to pick the perfect CPU.

Now, my budget is limited to under $300, but if I can squeeze a few pennies here and there, I would.

So my question is, which set up is better?

The E6750 with Zalman CNPS7700 or the Q6600 with stock fan?

1) I don't intend to overclock it that much (I am a noob overclocker)
2) This system is for gaming and photo editing.
3) I checked on Tom's Hardware. The CPU chart shows not a big performance increase from E6750 to Q6600.
4) What about E6750 vs. Q6600 (both with stock fan). Is it worth the extra $60-100?

For photo editing, I would grab the Q6600.

Is it worth the extra cash? Probably not, but who knows. If you're not looking to upgrade for a while, it is definately a great processor to have.

Stick with the stock heatsink for now, and grab an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro later on ($20-25ish) when you can afford it. Both use the push-pin design, so swapping it should be a breeze.

i am in same boat, and may wait just a bit to see if the new processors coming out will lower the prices of the existing ones. from what i have been reading, seeing the real world difference of a quad is limited to software that utilizes it, which is limited....is it worth the extra 100 bux...? Depends on how much you make I guess 🙂

DEF THE Q6600 why would u even consider a dual when u can get quad for the same price?

But there is a price difference. In my area, there's a $100 price difference.
