I'm going to have a computer built for me. I was originally going for the e8400 but the prices keep going up. Now at Newegg its about $240. I can get an e6750 from Amazon with free shipping for $190. Is the price worth the difference? I mostly will do video and photo editing as well as work with Abobe Acrobat and MS Office. Probably no gaming. Still will go with 4GB or RAM and a PNY 8600GTS videocard. The CPU is my big question mark. I know the e8400 uses less power and runs cooler and is faster but is it worth $50 more. Thanks

Yes, it is worth the price difference. Go buy it from a different site. And don't get the 8600GTS, get the HD 3850. I think MWave has it for $219.

The E8400, I mean.

mwave had good prices on the E8400 earlier this week. if they're still in stock that might be a good solution.

Actually, I checked the shipping, its kind of high to Hawaii. The Newegg price would be about the same.

Got mine from mwave.com for $214 shipped. Not the best deal, but not bad either.

I bought my e6750 from mwave after newegg jacked the price up to 235 or whatever. I think I paid 207 shipped.

I agree with blueacolyte re the vid card. 8600gts is old tech. get a 3850 instead, or maybe 3450/3650 if you really REALLY will never play a game of any kind.
