E6750 on DFI Infinity 975X/G?

I plan to build myself a new system that has a nice price/performace ratio.

It seems that the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 sits at a sweet spot of price/performace (~$180). I'm wondering though, must I buy a p35 chipset for this CPU, or will the 975X work?

For a motherboard, I'm leaning toward the DFI Infinity 975X/G, since I've been very pleased with DFI's boards in the past and it seems to provide the best bang for my buck (and I'm not going to overclock much).

My question is whether there's going to be an issue with this setup. The E6750 runs at FSB 1333, while the DFI Infinity 975X/G is rated for an FSB of 1066. What happens when I plug this CPU into this motherboard? Will it just try to run at 1333? Will I have to fiddle with the FSB and multiplier to get things running properly? (And on a related note, will I have to do anything to unlock the CPU in order to change its multiplier?)

I'd be happy running my FSB at 1066, since there's a minimal gain moving to 1333 and everything is a little cheaper at 1066. I just wonder what I'd need to do to get a E6750 running at 1066 FSB.

Finally, does anyone have any other recoomendations for a good price/performance motherboard for the E6750?

Thanks!

I have the same board and the same question--anyone???

You can "unoffically" use a 1333Mhz chip on a 975X board. It requires you to overclock the to FSB in order to the chip at full speed.

The BIOS will most likely not recongize the chip and ID it as "Unknown CPU at x Mhz".

Here i join you for the same question.. is it gonna work or not ? I've bought an E6750 and i plan to use it on the same DFI Infinity975X. Is it finally worked for you millz, hamltnh ?
What about a beta or non official bios version to support E6750, maybe someone thought about that in the mean time 😀 because I bet any DFI Infinity975X will do fsb 333Mhz without a glitch
