E6750 and Gigabyte P35-D3SL

Hey guys,

What is the proper way for me to overclock my CPU a bit with the stock Intel cooler? I changed the multiplier in the BIOS until the CPU reached 3.2 GHZ at one point but I set it back incase I had something wrong. What steps do you guys take?
