E6750 + Abit IP35-E Overclock

I got in on the Fry's sale with an Intel e6750 and an Abit IP35-E motherboard. I have never overclocked an Intel before and well I was able to get it to 3.6ghz but I have seen the e6750 go a lot higher on air.

Anybody have the same setup? The bios on the Abit IP35-E seem pretty simple but I can't get much more than 3.6ghz. I have seen reviews on the motherboard getting around 500 fsb. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong with it. Hopefully this isn't my limit with the chip.

you cant expect all rigs to OC the same. a successful OC is dependant on so many factors.
despite what you may have heard, not all rigs are born equal.

be glad you got a 33% OC. dont stress your cute little 6750 too much or it'll spit in your face and croak in a flaming inferno. (YMMV ;) )

Oh I know not all components are the same I was just seeing if someone has the same setup can shed some light on some of the bios settings. I've been overclocking for a while but only AMD.

you are complaining about 3.6Ghz? Sheesh

The ONLY way to get more is to put more voltage into the CPU hoping your cooling setup can do it.

if he hit 3.6 on stock voltages then he has the messiah of all computers. seriously, 3.6 is not bad for that chip on the ip35e. I usually run my e6750 on an ip35 pro at 8x439. I cannot get my fsb over 468 even at x6, haven't tested to see if that is cpu, ram, or mobo however. It takes 1.53 vcore in bios to be stable. I got bored last night and jumped it up to 8x451 to see if I can stand the higher room temps. It takes 1.58 (!!!) vcore in bios to be stable there. That's 1.54 after vdroop but numerous people have warned me that running it that high is dangerous. My temps are remarkably pedestrian, however, only 50c. Good case and good cpu cooler help me a ton.

Run Memtest86 test #5 for 10 loops to check RAM. Run Orthos Large mode for 10 minutes to check CPU. Bump Vcore to 1.465. These chips are good up to about 3.5GHz. Bottleneck is CPU, RAM, and/or CPU cooler, not MB!

Also bump up VTT, NB, and SB voltages up by ONE NOTCH.

Complaining?....again I am just seeing if I can push it more.

Here is a screenshot of it. Only a minute into orthos but just seeing how the temps are with my TR Ultra Extreme.

3.6ghz@1.51v

Also anybody else having an issue with the sound on the board? I installed the drivers in the driver cd but still no sound. Not really sure what is up.

your chip is great. Mine requires 1.58 in bios/1.54 vdroop for 3.608 stable. What are you running mch/ichio/cpu vtt, and ich at? I'm at 1.52 mch, 1.65 ichio, 1.31 cpu vtt and 1.05 ich.

I've chips that are smilar to yours get up to 4.0. You should crank it up a little bit and see what happens...man I'm jealous...

you need to crank it up a bit: I got 14.125 at 3.608 superpi 1m. Man your comp is slow...
