AMD would have more fire power to compete with INTC if they didn't acquire ATI. I suspect buy-out will occur within 18 months. There's nothing in AMD's arsenal that can keep up with INTC's top chips in the next few quarters. You can't reduce debts by dumping $50 CPUs on the market.

would the memory from this deal HP Branded Memory PC5300 DDR2 be a good combination with the Abit Board mentioned and this processor? Or should I look at the E4300?
(another dumb question, I have had no Intel systems since Celeron 300A days - how does a E4300 compare to a 3800x2 or 4400x2?)
