his will be my first attempt at overclocking a core 2 duo E6700 so I wanted to make sure I had my BIOS settings right.
I am not looking for an extreme overclock, only to 3000mhz.
My hardware is:
Freezer7 Pro
2gigs of mushkin Hp PC26400 4-5-4-11
Asus P5B( I did not add any active cooling to the NB)
The BIOS settings I have tried are:
FSB:300mhz
DRAM Frequency:750mhz(which is 2.5 memory multiplier)
PCI Express Frequency:Auto(which is 100mhz, I think)
Memory Voltage: 2.1v and timings set to 4-5-4-11
CPU Vcore Voltage: auto
FSB Termination voltage: auto
Disabled speedstep.
I was able to post, and use Windows without a problem but my
idle temp was in the low to mid 40s wherein it is normally low to mid 30s at stock. When I did a stability test with Everest, I had errors with both the CPU, and the memory.
I am not pushing the memory past 800mhz and it is rated for 2.1v at those timings, so I don't think it is a mem issue. What settings should I adjust to get a stable system?
Should I set my CPU voltage to a lower manual setting?
