E6600 w/retail fan- supplied thermal paste or Arctic Silver?

I probably already know the answer, but I am getting my setup:

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3
E6600 retail
Patriot 2x1Gb ram (4-4-4-12)

I don't really plan on overclocking it too much, but I hear people are able to get some decent results with supplied retail fan. I think I have some extra Arctic Silver 5 lying around- should I use it with Intel's fan? I really don't want to spend another $40 on a better fan/heatsync if I don't have to.

If you don't plan on overclocking but want to cheap your Conroe cool and quiet, there's nothing on the market better than the Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. $22 shipped @ provantage.com. It's a serious waste of money to buy something like a $60 HSF.

The Arctic Silver won't make that much of a difference, probably ~1-2°C under load. The problem, though, will come the first time that you plan to take the heatsink off. Just remember that you'll want to first get the processor warm, then twist it back and forth until you've broken the seal that the glue* Intel puts on their sinks is somewhat broken, before trying to remove it.

*It's not "real" glue, but it definitely sticks as well as some glues do.

I have no objections to overclocking, just don't want to pay a lot for the fan.

I've been looking for the Scythe Ninja Plus everywhere and nobody has it in stock. Apparently it's been discontinued?

The Scythe Infinity is the newer version of it. Works great -- I'm using it to cool my C2D

How about the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro? Not too expensive and from what I'm reading seems to get the job done.

I installed one on a PC a while ago.. Nice and quiet.. The Arctic Freezer series are the best in price/performance ratio. :)

Thanks. I went with the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro for $23 shipped. That was all I really wanted to spend. I'm all tapped out now.
